Loss of consciousness under anaesthesia is a spectral phase transition with critical scaling, not a smooth decrease in amplitude.

Chapter 11, prediction 5.
Measurement. Track spectral atomicity through a slow controlled induction. Look for critical scaling and a divergent correlation time near loss of responsiveness.
Falsifier. A smooth crossover with no critical exponent, with the measure declining in proportion to drug concentration.
Inherits the estimator problem from c-estimator: if the quantity being tracked is the window-dependent surrogate rather than atomicity itself, what a transition in it would mean is unclear.
